Federally funded research is required to be stored using one of the plans above or a plan that has been approved by WVU Information Security and is supported by WVU ITS. DropBox, external drives, USB drives and cloud services are not approved for funded research data.
WVU is currently developing a cost structure for the storage plans. While research projects and departments are not currently directly charged for storage, it is anticipated that this will change with the new budget model.
If data storage requirements are estimated at over 2TB, PIs should request a consultation to be sure the estimate included in the proposal budget is accurate.
Students who are employed by WVU and are listed on a research project are required to use the storage plans for employees.
