The software listed on this page may not be available to students. If students are engaging in research or human research under the HHS federal definition, approved technology must be used. Some student software is not approved for research. Contact the PI or department head for more information.

If the product is not listed, ITS approval is required prior to purchase. If HIPAA applies, a security assessment will be required and could take up to four weeks or longer depending on the product.

"Free" (zero cost) products must be reviewed and approved for research use. The ITS Purchase Request Form is required to ensure adequate protection for the data.
